Please Cry

This project is a site-specific theater performance based on personal war experiences from Japan and addresses the problem of the "lack of dialogue" in a world where division is increasing. It is an ongoing project that evolves through interaction with its surroundings and the audience.
The performance takes place in a non-theatrical space, where the performer engages in a conversation with someone the audience cannot see. Is this presence a ghost? A memory? A figment of the performer’s imagination? Or even the audience itself? The true identity of this “other” remains unknown.
The dialogue shifts between a conversation between the performer’s grandfather, who experienced war, and the performer´s best friend, who holds a radically conservative view on nationalism. The audience can only interpret the unseen voice through the performer’s reactions, forcing them to imagine what is being said. This "absence of one voice" becomes a theatrical metaphor for the dangers of division and the consequences of a lack of dialogue.
